School Planning Council

The School Planning Council functions as an advisory body for the school.  Each school is required by the School Act (secction 8.1) to establish a School Planning Council (SPC).  The purspose of the SPC is to formally acknowledge the importance of parental involvement in improving student achievement.  Our current school goals are shown under the "School Goals" section of this web page.

The role of the SPC is as an advisory body responsible for the following:
-  To prepare a proposed school plan.
-  To consult with the Board by attending meetings called by the Board during budget building in the Spring of each year regarding:
        -  The allocation of staff and resources within the resources assigned to the school.
        -  Matters contained in the Board's Accountability Contract.
        -  Educational services and educational programs in the school.
-  To consult with the PAC as the Draft School Plan is being prepared.
-  Submit the completed School Growth Plan that focuses on student achievement, by the end of September.

At David Cameron we are fortunate to have a committed staff and parent group that work hard to ensure a positive environment for all.  At our recent November PAC meeting our 2008-2009 School Planning Council was elected.  Our current SPC is therefore made up of:
-  Scott Stinson, Principal,
-  Dale Jarvis, Vice-Principal
-  Kim Campbell, PAC President
-  Swati Scott, Parent.
-  Shelley Mackenzie, Parent.
